Recreational Activities of Women in the Age of Prophethood and Shariah Rules and Regulations
Abstract
The life of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) has been described in the Holy Qur'an as a excellent example and beautiful role model (أسوة حسنة) which gives us complete guidance for all walks of life. He gave instructions for all the oppressed sections of the society to lead a normal life and established a society based on this guide line, of which women are particularly estimable. Therefore, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) on one occasion likened women to delicate ornaments and drew attention to their special care. By marrying a number of women, He devised a simple and workable system of education and training for the women of the Ummah through them and provided good manners in this regard. He encouraged to keep them happy, entertained and mentally refreshed and also discouraged putting pressure on them, even though He talked to them lightly and provided them with opportunities for entertainment. He assisted his wives in watching men's sports tricks, and even competed in running with them to entertain them. He has forbade who wanted to stop the young girls from playing the tambourine (a famous ancient Arabic music instrument) on happy occasions.
The article under the above mentioned sheds light on the rights of women to entertainment in Nabavi era and their Shariah rules and regulations in this regard.
