Sanctity of the Mother-in-law: A Comparative Study of the Previous Laws and Islamic Teachings

In order to establish peace and stability in the society, Allah Ta'ala has set a limit of relations between them, be it kinship or marital relations. In order to maintain more beauty in the family system, the prohibition and respect of relationships has been established. Rules and regulations have been set to avoid hatred and cruelty in the same family. As if a person marries a woman, then the woman's mother i.e., mother-in-law becomes haram for that person forever in this article, the sanctity of mother-in-law has been researched because one of the causes and motives of family instability in the society includes issues of disrespect and disrespect between mother-in-law and son-in-law. In this article, an attempt has been made to explain the orders related to the sanctity of the mother-in-law from the previous Sharia and tried to find the Islamic teachings related to the sanctity of the mother-in-law. There are clear orders regarding the sanctity of mother-in-law in Shari'ah and Islamic teachings. The disrespect and disrespect of the mother-in-law gives birth to unkindness and diseases like hatred and enmity are born in the family system. In the previous Shari'ah, it has been ordered to kill the person who unveil his mother-in-law. Islamic law,s also strictly condemn the unveiling of mother-in-law.
