According to the 2017-2018 Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey, 28 percent of women at the age of 15 to 49 had experienced intimate partner violence in their lifetimes. This is a slight decrease from 32 percent of the women reported to have experienced physical violence at the hands of their partners in the 2012-2013 survey. Islamabad, The cases of violence against women and rape in Pakistan were doubled in the last six months of 2020 as compared to the first six months of the year. Similarly, the number of child abuse cases reported three times more in second half compared to first half of 2020. The province of Punjab has reported maximum cases of child abuse followed by Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. This alarming statistics compelled the government of Pakistan to make legislation to prevent domestic violence against women of Pakistan. This research paper aims at to explain the legislation on domestic violence in Pakistan and have a historical and critical evaluation of recent legislation on domestic violence in Pakistan, and opinion of the different legal experts and Muslim Scholars
