When it comes to women's rights, Western powers generally claim credit for this, while the reality is that Islam is the pioneer which has literally made women aware of their rights. Thus, Islam gave women all the best rights and raised them to the heights of honor and dignity. One of these rights is the right to entertainment and recreation. Human nature, whether male or female, requires recreation after a while. Since Islam is the religion of nature, it has also stated its teachings regarding this right to entertainment. Entertainment or Recreation refers to any action by which the heart is filled with pleasure and happiness. Hence the application of the word ‘entertainment’ or ‘recreation’ to every action and deed which brings freshness, joy and happiness to the heart is correct in terms of lexical vocabulary. There are dozens of examples of this in the great period of the Righteous Caliphate, which proves that the Female Companions and their female subjects enjoyed the rights of recreational nature to the fullest extent within the realm of Shari'ah. In the article under review, we have compiled examples and events under different headings, focusing on the two types of recreation (domestic recreation and outdoor recreation). The main purpose of the article is to prove that Islam gives women all kinds of legitimate rights to entertain. The only condition is that the rules of Shari'ah must be observed, non-mahram must be completely avoided and the veil(pardah/hijab) must be well arranged.
