There are two extremes regarding the role of women in society today. One group of thought wants to keep women unfairly engaged in every field while the other group wants to restrict women to the boundaries of the home anyway. Many aspects have been adopted to understand the role of women in the Prophetic era. Some people have written on this subject in the light of Quran, Sunnah and the opinions of jurists, however, there is a need to make use of the sources of hadith and biography related to the roles and services of women in other spheres apart from domestic responsibilities in the Prophet's era. In the Islamic society, although the responsibility of caring the children and home management has always been given to women, but in the Prophet's era, women were engaged in other fields besides housework too. In this study, using the sources of hadith and biography of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the discussion has been focused only on the point that which were the fields in which women have been active in addition to domestic responsibilities in the Prophet's era? From this research, it will be known what were the responsibilities of women in the Prophet's era and what was their non-domestic role in the society.
