Abstract

The concept of entertainment existed in every era and all the nation. However, every nation has adopted ways of entertainment by taking its cultural norms into account. Some nations have even established entertainment as an expression of religious rituals, but some only treat it as a part of their culture only. Modern inventions, however, have changed the face of entertainment in the modern era. Generally, in the past, entertainment was only associated with physical training and growth. If we take a closer look, we can see this concept prevalent in all sports. Similarly, the home-bound women's sports were also of the same sort. In contrast to physical sports, modern inventions such as dishes, cable, television, the computer, the internet, and smartphones are known as media. All these inventions have widened the scope of entertainment. Not only they have widened it, but they have abolished the collectivism associated with the previous concept of entertainment and have made it individualistic. The current concept of entertainment programs that get telecasted live has included songs, fashion shows, tv shows, and movies under the umbrella term of entertainment. Thus, in turn, causes the spread of western and non-Islamic culture in the name of entertainment. A list of people assumes that there is no space for celebration or entertainment in Islam and they can only lead a straightforward and secluded life after accepting Islam because it does not allow any celebration or entertainment. It is certainly a myth that people follow. Another type of Muslim belief is that Islam only revolves around prayers and fasting. They believe that they can do anything if they are offering Namaz and keeping fasts. They have a notion that they can adopt the norms of western culture, Hindus, Westerners, and uncultured people. They can adopt anything in the name of entertainment and they can do whatever worldly activities they want to do in the name of happiness and entertainment.
