Islam focusses on marriage due to its great prominence with many benefits and significance that can only be achieved from the institute of family with marriage. In Islamic teachings marriage being a mandatory deed is so vital that it is declared to be one half of a single Muslim’s belief. It emphasis mutual environment and contingent nature of men and women’s bond. Since the family is the foundation of Islamic society and marriage is the only way to bring families into survival in Islam and even every nation trust up on it. Marriage is an act and in modern term socio-religious contract which pleasing to Allah because it is an agreement with his directives that husband and wife love each other and help each other to make struggles to endure the human race and increase their children to become happy and peaceful. It is also a fact that the issue of marriage and family is not specific to Islam, in every tradition and society marriage is necessary to promote the interest of family, society and nation. We find some important matrimonial laws in pre-Islamic era in Arab society. These laws have some kinds of impotent impact in Islamic context of matrimonial laws. In this study efforts are made to elaborate some pre-Isalmaic matrimonial laws with refrence to Prophet’s Muhamamd ﷺreforms in theses laws. As a concluding remarks we may say some laws are remain same as they were before Islam, some were partially changed and some were totally abrogated due to their consequences. Therefore, it is recommended if we want to live happy and blessed life we should adopt Islamic family and matrimonial laws completely with reference to modern context. Analytical, critical and historical research methodology have been used in this study.
